Miss Getting Out? These 7 Stay-At-Home Experiences Bring the PNW To You

The weather is changing, and many of us feel the urge to get out of the house.

Thankfully, even though we're staying home and staying healthy, we can still "visit" places in our region and plan trips for a future date, when restrictions around travel and gathering are relaxed.

Here are our favorite isolation vacations -- perfect for "getting out" in your jammies, from the comfort of your couch.

1. The Washington Trail Association's Plan Now, Hike Later trip planner

It's a thorough guide to planning out your future routes.

Hint: we also have plenty of hiking inspo on our Outdoor Adventures page.

2. The Schack's Home Is Where the Art Is series

The Schack Art Center in downtown Everett is offering virtual video tours of local artists' studios. They're also offering online classes. Now is a perfect time to learn a new skill!

3. Virtual tours, lessons at the Cascadia Art Museum

The Cascadia Art Museum in Edmonds is a delightful place to visit. Now they're offering virtual art lessons via video and downloadable lessons. They also offer video tours of their gallery. Visit their virtual page to immerse yourself in regional art and create your own magic at home.

4. Mountain Loop Highway App

Explore this mountainous scenic byway virtually through your online browser. Or, when the time is right, download the app and head out to the 'Loop to explore the backroads of the Cascades for yourself with your phone as your guide! (This is especially important, because there is no cell reception on the far parts of the Mountain Loop).

5. The Everett Music Intiative HOMEBODIES music series

This hyperlocal music group's FB page features live video performances from artists from Everett, the Pacific Northwest, and across the nation. You can stream top-tier performances across musical genres as artists perform their work from their homes and studios. Pull it up on your phone and kick back -- streaming the archive makes for a great evening of entertainment.

6. The Seattle NorthCountry YouTube page

FYI -- our YouTube page is full of videos that show off the best of what Snohomish County has to offer. Take a virtual peek at top dining, hiking, and other recreation activities. You may want to jot down some ideas for future travel destinations.
