Snohomish County Independent Bookstore Week
Join us for a tour de books to celebrate some of the best independent bookstores that participate in the annual Snohomish County Independent Bookstore Week

Rapid and ever-changing advances in technology give us the ability to access the entire world from the palm of our hands. While our smartphones allow us to do virtually anything (pun intended) from tracking our sleep patterns to ordering dinner, there are some things that a phone just can’t replicate, such as reading a book.
Well of course you can listen to audiobooks and even read entire books on your phone or tablet. But the feeling of a physical book in your hand: the distinct smell and touch of a crisp new book or the malleability of a well-worn book. The way the air lightly flutters through your fingers as you turn the pages. The break it gives your eyes from the blue light of the screen.
Books provide a steadfast reprieve from our endless connection to the high-tech world, and our brick-and-mortar bookstores are bastions of knowledge that deserve our support.
A few short years ago, some of Snohomish County’s independent booksellers banded together to form a week-long event dedicated to celebrating the beauty of local bookstores—and the result was Snohomish County Independent Book Store Week (SCIBSW - @snocoindiebookstoreweek).
There are nearly a dozen stores that participate by offering book fanatics a chance to nab exclusive sales on books and literary items, contests, prizes—including a passport and map with unique stamps at each location—and plenty of communion with other book lovers. The fun of SCIBSW culminates on the Saturday known as National Independent Bookstore Day.
In celebration of our Snohomish County indy bookstores, we’ve compiled a list of all the shops that participate in Snohomish County Independent Book Store Week.
