Witness the Diamond Skies of the Sky Valley

Each year, thousands of stargazers converge upon the aptly-named Sky Valley in search of a quiet spot to enjoy the stars and other nocturnal phenomena.

The visitors bring cameras, telescopes, and wide-eyed wonder to take in the impressive views above craggy mountain peaks and the jagged tops of conifers.

From Sultan to the top of Stevens Pass, there are countless destinations for an unforgettable evening under the stars. Witness meteor showers, a lunar eclipse, or the stellar wash of the Milky Way.

The Skykomish-Snohomish River Valleys are home to countless DNR and Forest Service roads. Grab a blanket and make your way up one of these quiet paths, where you will enjoy privacy and the absence of light pollution for a truly spectacular experience.

Go in the winter for a crystalline atmosphere. Visit spring or summer and pitch your tent amidst the scent of cedars in the backcountry.

Pro tip: be sure to heed the gate notices. If the road you choose is locked at night, you don’t want to get stuck on the wrong side.

Have a magical time!
