Once threatened with development, the city of Mukilteo purchased a large section of Japanese Gulch for a park. This 144 acres of natural gardens and trails hold deer, mountain beavers, shrews, coyotes, and birds as varied as great blue herons, black-headed grosbeaks and brightly colored western tanagers and abundant plant life. The trails can be accessed from near the dog park on 5th and at the community garden at 76th and 44th.
