Pickett Index Interpretive Museum
The Index-Pickett Historical Museum is in the former home of nationally known photographer Lee Pickett whose collection of glass and film negatives is held at the University of Washington’s Allen Library, Special Collections. The museum documents Index area history using his photos as well as hundreds of images and artifacts contributed by the community since Pickett’s death. Mining, quarrying, logging, area's natural disasters are also featured. You will find not only exhibits but videos, a computer photo catalog, and a computer mapping system for comparing town property ownership decade by decade.
Hours & Directions
The Pickett Museum is open from 12 noon to 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Day weekend through the end of September and offers special mid-week tours by appointment.
