Ward Roney Jr. VFW Post 7511 and its Auxiliary are thrilled to announce that the sixth annual Flags for our Fallen 5K run/walk event takes place Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Lake Tye Park in Monroe.

This family-friendly community event begins at 0900 and includes an opening ceremony, vendor fair, 5K run/walk around Lake Tye, and a raffle. The opening ceremony is officiated by Post 7511 member Shane Williams and includes a three-volley salute from the Snohomish High School Marine Corps JROTC, a welcoming message from Post 7511 Commander Terry Stinson, a live performance of the National Anthem, a brief address by a local elected official, and a few words from Military Order of the Purple Heart Region 3 Commander Robert Oliverez.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to honor the sacrifice of our fallen heroes the way Flags for our Fallen was always intended to honor them,” said Committee Chair Eric Ciocco. “Publicly, honorably, and alongside our community. We’re looking forward to seeing you all there.”

Joining the event for the third year in a row is Fallen Hero Banners of Snohomish County, whose banners featuring the military portraits of Snohomish County’s fallen heroes have become the silent sentinels of Flags for our Fallen. Post 7511 is grateful to Fallen Hero Banners of Snohomish County for its important and powerful contribution to this event.
