Join gravel cyclists, book enthusiasts, and dog lovers in Darrington, WA for a weekend filled with book-related events and gravel rides.
"A Dog’s Devotion: True Adventures of a K9 Search and Rescue Team," by Suzanne Elshult and Guy Mansfield, follows principal investigator Keb, a yellow lab, on search and rescue missions all over Washington state. One of those missions brings Keb and her team to Oso, where a devastating 2014 landslide destroyed 49 homes and ended the lives of 43 people.
READ to learn about the Oso Landslide through the eyes of a K9 search and rescue team. Then RIDE gravel roads to visit the landslide.
The weekend-long event will include a slideshow by the authors about their Oso mission, a book discussion with the authors, a dog search demo, and of course, gravel rides galore! The event is free and open to the public. We have reserved the Whitehorse Campground for those who wish to camp while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow cyclists. Space is limited. Registration required. Visit http://www.dirtyfreehub.org/events/dogs-devotion/ to learn more and register for the event.
