Museums/galleries
The Cascadia Art Museum in Edmonds, WA offers the quality works of lesser-known regional artists and “outsider artists” who may have been passed over in their day for their gender or social status. If you feel inspired after witnessing fine art in the galleries, check out the Cascadia gift shop.
Imagine Children’s Museum is a half-day's worth of science, tech, and art-based learning experiences for kids. Their interactive exhibits cover two floors and a rooftop and will keep your children occupied for hours as they witness live fish, whale skeletons, art studios, treehouses, waterworks, and dozens of other activities designed to delight and educate through entertainment.
The Schack Art Center is a free art gallery with rotating seasonal exhibits. Witness a functioning hot shop where glassblowers go about their work. Or even better – drop in for a class and learn a new skill for yourself!
Cozy dining & comfort food
Bayside Cafe, Everett (vegan). If you don’t do meat, but you love comfort food try Bayside Cafe. They do “burgers,” “nuggets,” and other hearty fare, all created from plants.
MARKET, Edmonds. One can hardly visit the PNW without sampling our seafood. MARKET has garnered a local cult following for their fresh chowder, hot lobster rolls, and other delectable seafood treats.
Choux Choux Bakery, Everett. Any bakery folk out there? We see you. If you like authentic French baking with all of the butter, caramelized onions, and sugar, then stop by at Choux Choux for an espresso and a crepe escape.
Driftwood, foggy coastline walks. Beachcombing. Storm watching.
It’s time to vibe. It’s time to vibe hard on the beaches. There’s a serenity in the silence of fog, and the muted colors of the sea abutting the green cliffs surrounding Puget Sound. Best of all, beach time doesn’t require a reservation or even plans – it's as spontaneous as you’d like it to be.
Hints: bring a hot beverage in a thermos. Coffee, tea, or even a spiced cider pair remarkably well with a moody atmosphere and will warm you from the inside out. Also, be sure to layer appropriately. Wet/damp cold is much different than “dry” cold. Try thermal layers of Smartwool, a peacoat, woolen accessories, and a beanie. Waterproof shoes or boots are a must. Remember that these beaches are also ecosystems for local flora and fauna. Please leave no trace.
Best beaches for strolls:
-Meadowdale County Park
-Mukilteo Lighthouse Beach
