These are your best bets for getting outside and enjoying a natural new year.
Index Town Wall/ Rafting the North Fork of the Skykomish River
The small mountain town of Index has the best rock climbing in the state. And you can rent a guided kayaking or rafting tour right in town.
Mountain biking at the North Mountain Trails
The brand new North Mountain Trails north of Darrington are for outdoor bikers of all skill levels. Try their courses to master riding in rugged outdoor Northwest terrain.
You can rent tents here that come with all of the accomodations you need for a night out or a weekend getaway: a bed, appliances, and an outdoor fire pit. Stay close to civilization, but get off the gris in this rustic farm valley hideout.
God made yurts and yurts don't hurt. These weatherproof circular outdoor dwellings are ideal for summertime with family or friends. There's a full yurt village at Kayak Point. The beach is a short walk away through a forested path.
Your best bet for fresh and local food year-round. The co-op is in historic Downtown Everett, which is a great place to visit, anyway.
Garden Treasures is at the beginning of the Mountain Loop Highway. This is no coincidence. Stock up on delicious fruits, cheeses, and preserves before going out to the mountains and back on a photo-op road trip.
