Downtown Everett's Houseplant Haven: Planted

Bring your home to life with plants!

Houseplants are a versatile gift which convey many meanings: congratulations on the new house, happy birthday, I'm sorry for your loss, and more. They last much longer than flowers and don't come with their strange taboo about buying them for oneself. And any space filled with plants just feels right somehow.

Anna Gallup created such a space at Planted in downtown Everett, where you'll find everything from inexpensive, small starter plants to rare collector varieties, plus accessories and gifts. "I believe in community and making a place where people feel welcome. I feel like plants are the bridge to that," said Gallup.

Her philosophy extends to the home. "In creating a space that's beautiful, plants are healing in a way, giving you something to care for and seeing it grow."

Her floral design business Grace & Blooms was an integral part of many celebrations, but when her children arrived, Gallup needed to step away from the wedding industry's demanding and irregular schedule. She dipped her toe in the retail waters with a very successful Valentine's Day popup at Narrative Coffee in 2018. In its wake, she signed a lease just one block away from Narrative on Wetmore.

Planted is now regularly a venue for popup events featuring other local businesses like Colibri SweetsRevolution by the Barrel, and El Mariachi Birria. And this holiday season, she'll complement her gift selection with onsite wreath making classes and plant swap events.

While it's no longer the focus of her business, Gallup still takes on a couple of wedding clients each year. With its large windows and perpetually-fresh stock of merchandise, Planted is also a perfect venue to rent for your own events. Contact Gallup for more information. Or stop by and grab a bit of green to go.
