Wetsuits and hot tubs keep everyone warm in any weather, and the program is tiered for all levels of experience and ability.
The first step in understanding Beach Camp is to spend a little time with an internet map to get a feel for the unique location and geography here. Beach Camp is held at the Sunset Bay Wharf located along a several mile stretch of sandy beach at the widest part of Puget Sound directly across from its entrance to the Pacific Ocean. This means ocean like beaches with ornate driftwood, expansive sand flats, and everyday encounters with marine mammals including seals, porpoises, and sea lions. It also means crystal clear waters with ocean levels of salinity hosting almost every imaginable cold water marine organism along with copious populations of schooling fish and crab. In short, Beach Camp is worlds apart from lake based summer programs as is our mission, which is to plant the seed for a lifetime of interest and appreciation for the saltwater marine ecosystem & sustainable lifelong water sport adventure activities.
The Beach Camp Overnight Program features great evening activities, catered meals, and accommodations in boys and girls cabins plus cabanas on the dock. The overnight camp features unique experiences including sunset stand up paddle boarding, beach bonfires, bioluminescent snorkeling, s'mores and more. Campers also have the opportunity to explore the marine sciences, nature and underwater photography.
